What a treasure for someone just starting to eat raw foods. Two of the soups will be
forever on my menus and the raw apple pie was a real success at a recent gathering. Easy
directions.

Summary: "So-So"

I am looking forward to eventually making some of the meals in here. However, the author has a list of appliances she recommends owning to prepare most of the food (including a food processor which I do not own). She also suggests having certain nuts or seeds sitting in chilled water in your refrigerator. However, she states these are only good for 3 days. Sometimes I have one meal planned in my head in the morning but when I get home from work, I decide to go with a quicker meal. I can't have seeds and nuts sitting in my refrigerator on the off chance that I might use them. If I don't, they'll quickly go bad and that's a waste of money.

I guess for someone who is committed to going raw all the way, this book offers quite a few ideas. However, for someone just trying to start a healthier lifestyle, this might not be an ideal book to jump to.

I found about every third recipe was good. I've tried many of them and many were disasters--just didn't taste good, the amounts of certain ingredients looked off to me, and I should have trusted my judgement. A few very good recipes, though. AS my very first raw recipe book, this was hit and miss.

Summary: "For serious raw foodists looking for simple recipes ONLY"

This is a book for serious raw foodists. Most recipes require pre-somethinged something, soaked raw nuts and they're byproducts are most often called for. I just wanted to incorporate a few interesting gourmet raw meals into our regular diet. I didn't expect to need many dollars of unusual ingredients. And I certainly don't want to eat so many avacados! Thought raw meant lean - some of these recipes are very high in calories. And to echo another reviewer - I don't see anything gourmet here. This certainly wasn't for me.
